roof almost up

HI !

back up

Thursday, August 04, 2005

half an 80 year old willow tree almost f*d the base up.

Its costing over 2 Gs to clean out the tree and "prune" the rest of it so it doesnt happen again. If you look to the right to give you an idea of how small our gazebo looks to this 100 foot tree. Lesson learned: if you have a big tree get an arborist every couple of years to check it out.

This is what we did this week

This is before this last floorboard was added.

The next day I went out to add the floorboard and saw that half the fuckin willow tree behind our house fell. If it fell on my floorboards I would have lost it.

July 22 /23 Dig begins, Cement fill

The foundation is the most important part, dont F*#@ it
up.
- Home depot guy

I went to Home Depot to grab an auger machine, basically a hand held ground drill. That is the drill bit. We were digging 4' in,so we would need an extension bit as well.

The tubes go right into the holes. The knobs at Ratcliffe lumber, sent 3 sizes, 7.5", 8" and 8.5" diameter tubes. Our auger was 8", Screwed?

No, we were fine i ended up bashing them into the ground. Now the fun part, put the support posts and fill them with cement.

By the way, if you ever do this wear steal toe boots... 50lb drill bit + flip flops = agony
